PAF Hollow Blue

Based on our popular PAF model, a small bodied bespoke Les Paul style guitar, the PAF Hollow is one of our favourite designs both to play and to build. This version (every instrument we build is unique, whether based on an existing model or not), is left handed, light-weight and toneful.  The experimental construction meant making and through-neck and then carving away the majority of the neck in the body area.  We wanted to make the most  of the superior tone transfer than one gets from a through-neck instrument while retaining the character of a hollow bodied guitar.

The flamed maple and mahogany neck is set into completely hollowed flamed pear wood wings and the top is hand-carved figured maple. There is no tone block joining the front and back, instead we have six stainless steel bars acting much like a violin sound post, transferring the strings vibrations from the front to the back.

At Crimson Guitars we are proud to innovate and experiment and the hardware is something on which we are spending a lot of time. There is no point building a custom guitar and installing generic hardware if you can help it.  On this guitar the tremolo is based on ball bearings to give it perfect return to pitch and is hand made from a solid billet of aircraft grade aluminium, and was hand made in the Crimson Guitars workshops.
