Plagiarist Vine

The custom built Plagiarist guitar is a different take on the almost ubiquitous PRS design, instead of a guitar built from pristine timbers with a glossy lacquer finish and a uniform shape mass produced by computer control routers our client decided to order a truly personal and utterly bespoke guitar. The top is English Sycamour (a softish maple) complete with cracks and shakes and the body is an English Yew, again chosen for the interesting grain. The through neck was chosen for tone and is made up of three pieces of solid Indian Rosewood, in a through neck instrument the neck takes on the bulk of the responsibility for the tone and rosewood is renowned for its sound properties. Finally the fretboard is padouk, another great tone wood. We have inlaid an aluminium alloy throughout the guitar, a vine inlay goes from the body up through the neck and incorporates the names of the clients wife and children and through the rest of the guitar we have accentuated the natural defects in the wood with more alloy inlays (see the tiny guitarist on the back.. ;) The whole guitar is finished off in a thin natural oil which allows the instrument to breathe and vibrate freely.

The scatter-wound pickups, a p-90 in the neck position and a humbucker at the bridge were hand made to match the tones the client required and are direct mounted to the body for the best possible tone transfer. The tremolo is the stunning Wilkinson VG401 and is offset against the ultra stable, and very light weight, locking Sperzel tuners. To top the whole custom guitar off the tremolo is loaded with Graph Techs Ghost piezo saddles and these are fed through the spectacular acoustiphonic preamp, the mix of sounds available through this guitar are varied and gives the guitar a superb flexibility.
