As of the 6th of April 2010 our prices for bespoke guitars will be starting at GB£2100, this is to bring us in line with other luthiers who offer similar, though obviously not such comprehensive, services. Every single instrument we build is utterly custom and as such requires an individual quote, to download a blank spec sheet with which to work up your very own custom guitar design or fill it in online go here.
The return to Artisanship is impossible when living in a society that insists upon instant gratification, luthiery is an art and can not be rushed, we aim to bring true quality to our instruments and we put in the time, love and attention to detail necessary to achieve that goal. Where possible we build the individual components of each guitar from scratch from custom bridges to scatter-wound pickups and bespoke tuning systems.
We are currently changing our build schedules in an attempt to bring down the waiting time however and instead of working on up to ten guitars at a time Ben will only have at most two guitars in each phase of the build process i.e. woodwork, finishing and final setup/wiring. Working through the backlog will take time but the long-term result will be a much more rapid, and enjoyable, service overall.
The current build time is between six and nine months but there can be no guarantee on this as each guitar and bass is fully bespoke and timescales vary. We will not rush for any reason, that way lies a sub-standard custom guitar and we can not do that!
