The 2nd day of June 2010
here’s where we left the last diary off, the custom trem is sitting there teasing us..
but first the pickups are brought out, twin p-90′s and a humbucker, all handmade and all coil-tappable..
the other six pickups are the piezo saddles in the trem..
first the trem is put in place… though minus the springs in the back..
next up I mark out a custom bone nut, the radius of the fretboard is marked on in pencil
it is then cut out with a fretsaw..
and shaped, sanded and installed
the pickups are then installed.. directly mounted to the top to improve the overall sound of the guitar!
..needs just a few solder joints!
the igor is, meanwhile, working on the Vanquish Hollow, we’ve changed the neck shape a bit and re-lacquered it
she now needs hardware.. locking Sperzels to start with..
ok, since the pickups are rear-mounted the trems springs etc are now fitted
and she is strung up for the first time! And even without electrickery she sings!

this was very neccessary to even out the look of the thing
now we shield as much of the wiring area as possible
volume, tone three mini-toggle coil taps and a five way switch..
the igor continues with the menial.. but important, tasks.. oiling in this case!
followed by more work on the vanquish.. who needs a new name now.. see the forum for more on that..
I take a short break, a pair of gorgeous young jackdaws fell to the bottom of a blocked up chimney at the house and needed rescuing..
now, the specs changed a bit and the addition of piezo means more holes, the only place that looks good enough is on the upper bout..
the igor puts together one of the old design bearing trems..
and finally the left-handed paf hollowbody is fully wired up.. the additions are piezo volume a piezo/mix/magnetic switch and a kill switch (on the upper bout where it’s useful!)
the recessed, matching, truss rod cover is installed
and then the backplates.. because of the construction methods we’ve had to come up with these little metal inserts
and here she is, finished and ready for setup.. oh, and bloody beautiful!
