Well, it’s back to work for everyone and it’s about time too, I can’t tell you how much I missed getting down and dusty with guitar shaped lumps of wood! .. here are some pics of the work that I have done over the break..

despite being much more comfortable than before the ‘new’ workshop still has work to be done..

bare plaster everywhere is only slightly better than the bare plasterboard that preceded it..

therefore some time was spent painting, and painting.. three coats on every surface gets very tedious after a while

especially as doing the ceiling turned my arms to jelly by the end of the job

This represents two days erfoming a stock-take.. of sorts.. you wouldn’t believe how many sets of old tuneing pegs and pickups I found in my drawers!

next up a template is made..

While two wet dogs look miserably out at the constant drizzle..

the rebates are routed into an MDF board

and then the sides are completed too..

and I end up with a very large cabinet ready for shelves.. after glueing and screwing eveything together that is

and this is only part of the dust created.. there are few materials I like working with less than MDF! Although one day i may have to make a guitar using it just to prove that it can be done!

The cabinet is half complete, I’ll put doors on it at some stage to keep the dust out, but it means that I can safely store 12 guitars at various stages of developement, thus helping to keep the workshop tidy and everything in the right place!

and there we leave it..

the workshop is now useable again, and relatively dust free, thus I will be able to start work on guitars again tomorrow!
All my best,
Ben
