2

an old friend is back.. at the time (a few weeks back) Nick and I wern’t too pleased with the way the wiring worked out on the PAF bass guitar.. after a good deal of thought we start again..

3

find an earth hum.. can’t fix it.. and then realise that I (like a total fool) fogot to turn off the power supply to the laptop.. right next to the amp.. doh!

4

anyway, we finally bring out the true potential of the wizard bass humbuckers!.. and have a very happy customer!

5

on to the daily oiling of various guitars.. the eight string recieves her fourth coat..

6

..and I’ve lost count now on this beauty!

7

we need a new template or two for Laurences custom guitar.. a new model in the Crimson Guitars fold..

8

roughed out and ready for the messy bit..

9

now, some shavings are created for the mulching of my veg patch..

10

with the side effect of a new neck blank for, among others, Ben Bennets bespoke guitar..

11

while that dries we finally shape the template for LT’s guitar..

12

here’s the rough idea..

13

Garys body shape is marked out

14

and then the excess timber from Gary and Laurences necks are cut down

15

planed flat

16

and glued into place as headstock extensions..

17

day two and the excess glue and veneer is removed from the neck blank and it is ready for machining..

18

before that though the spalted beech guitars are roughed out on the bandsaw

20

and then the body shape is routed in using a big bearing cutter

21

..pretty no?

22

now.. a clean day.. Jason’s blue beastie has now had enough finish applied

23

the fretboard is protected while we flatten and the profile the frets

24

they are individually polished with chrome polish

25

and then it’s on to the first of the hardware..

26

..I’m very happy with how this turned out!

27

the threaded inserts are installed for the strap buttons

29

and the trem cavity is prepared..

30

I took a little time out to turn this stainless steel tube into a really long drill bit

31

before fitting the floyd rose.. and the recessed jack socket!

32

now, some custom flame maple pickup surrounds are called for (an extra £35 if you want them on your guitar, they’re surprisingly time consuming!!)

33

..

34

..

35

:)

(I promise never to use a smily face again.. it’s nearly midnight after a long day in the workshop and it fitted the mood.. sorry)

36

Anyway, strings are on and she’s nearly ready to go!

All my best,

Ben
