And this is where we begin.. Jason’s guitar is nearing completion.. just a few hours of carving..

and she’s getting a lot more comfortable..

the sycamour backplate is marked out

cut to size and fitted..

and carved to match!

at the moment it wouldn’t be a diary update without at least one pic of a guitar bing waxed..

so I put in two!

the all-access neck joint on Jas’s guitar is worked on a bit and shaped to be very very comfortable!

the bobbin sander is brought into service to tidy up all the edges..

and then we get to the sanding stage.. at this point the random orbital sander packs in.. or at least the pad that the disks adhere to needs replacing..

so it’s on to more challenging work..

since I’m about to begin another round of custom guitars I need a tidy workshop..

so Friday is spent

on this project..

a very clean and

organised workspace.. absolutely essential for an organised mind!!

we begin again on Jonathan’s guitar.. tentatively called the vanquish..??

the pickup surrounds are changed to cream..

and an ebony truss rod cover is cut to size

and installed..

..the control cavity has to be shielded.. normally I use silver tape for this but considering the overall colouring of this beastie I thought copper would work quite well.. the best thing is the provenance of the tape.. it is sold to gardeners to help control slugs and snails!!

she is wired for sound..

put back together for the last time!

and set up..

Jonathan couldn’t be happier!! A good day all round!
