we start off with the crimson inlay for the headstock of the ‘conspiracy’ model
the shape is recessed
and inlaid
the paf here is more than ready for hardware.. this is one of the best oil finishes I’ve ever achieved!
the fretboard is masked off and the frets uncovered with a very sharp scalpel
the frets are flattened, profiled
and polished to a high gloss for the ultimate in fretting comfort!
more oil is applied to the fretboard..
and locking Sperzel tuners are installed
looking good hey?
now.. the conspiracy, my first real crack at a strat type in years.. I’ll put a pic up on the forum of the rosewood strat I built about five years back.. note the Wizard ‘subversive’ pickup set in the background!!
the slot for the switch is cut
and the cavity shielded
pickups installed and the trem lined up..
the cavity is masked while I belatedly get to the neck bolts which are profiled and polished to a gloss finish
more finish is applied to the blue left-handed hollowbody paf guitar…
and the 45rpm
.. and here the conspriracy is a guitar!
more locking Sperzels are installed
now.. the theory is that a brass nut sounds more like a fretted note as it is a similar material to the frets.. I’m making this out of aluminium as it is much closer to nickle silver in hardness than brass.. we’ll see
but after a good polish it’s looking pretty impressive!
no?
anyway, the trem springs etc are installed over the pickups
some custo padouk knobs are put in place
and she is strung up.. the other theory about the nut is that the more surface are you have in contact with the string the more string energy is transfered to the body and therefore you get better tone!!
and here she is.. Have a great weekend!!
