This 3″ long, smooth cut Spot Levelling File is the little brother to the Fret Levelling File.  The shorter file is perfect for quick fretboard maintenance and is very versatile.

Fret levelling files are the standard tool for fretwork and our 6.5″ long tool is perfectly suited to all manner of fret levelling duties, however you may find that you only have a small problem area, one or two frets that need a little lowering and this is where a spot levelling file will save you valuable time by allowing you to pinpoint the problem and deal with it precisely.  At Crimson Guitars we have a reputation for attention to detail and this holds true when we make tools, this one is designed with dual functionality, it comes as standard with carefully ground edges that turn this into the best fret crowning tool I’ve ever used.  The short length and comfortable handle make the guitar builder feel more in control than you do when using more flimsy traditional files and you never have to lose sight of the top of your fret and can be sure that you are not taking off too much material.  This also works a dream when rounding over the ends of each fret.

  • UK grown ash handle, ergonomic design
  • 3″ long quality single cut file
  • Smooth cut file
  • Perfect on stainless steel frets
  • Ground edges for initial fret crowning
  • Hand applied melamine lacquer finish

    Fantastic little Spot Levelling File!

This Spot Levelling File is great for filing smaller sections of the fret-area – for example if you only have one area where the frets are uneven.
The file feels great in the hand, when working it, and the cut is very smooth.

I also use it for filing smaller sections of the fret ends, where I might still have a little overhang left – works very well for that!

Letting the file do all the work, not applying any excessive pressure, will allow the file, and its fine cut, to glide smoothly down the frets.

I’m super, super happy that I pulled the trigger and gave the Crimson tools a go – you can’t beat them! Quality is super, all products are well made and they will last you a long time, if taken care of!
